"In any given year, 1 in 5 people in Canada will personally experience a mental health problem or illness. Mental illness affects people of all ages, education, income levels, and cultures. Approximately 8% of adults will experience major depression at some time in their lives. Almost one half (49%) of those who feel they have suffered from depression or anxiety have never gone to see a doctor about this problem. Stigma or discrimination attached to mental illnesses presents a serious barrier, not only to diagnosis and treatment but also to acceptance in the community"
My cherished cousin, Vern, was a loving, intelligent, handsome, musical, and kind-hearted person.
Despite his immense suffering, he never stopped seeing the beauty in others and helping them shine.
This event is to celebrate his life and to raise funds for The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto, a non for profit centre that provides "a wide range of clinical care services for patients of all ages and families". Pure Fitness Canada (1 York) has graciously donated their space to host Vinyasa for Vern.
This event will include:
75 minutes of yoga led by myself (@laraaliceyoga)
A live musical savasana performance by the talented @garethbushmusic
A cold press juice to follow class and well as 1 three day juice cleanse for a lucky winner, kindly donated by the incredible Pulp & Press juicery (@pulpandpress)
Vegan treats from @koukladelights
Hair slinkys from @lavitaglam
All proceeds will be donated to CAMH. It would mean a great deal to me if you would be in attendance August 26th at 10:00 am- the link to purchase tickets is below this text.
With love, light, and support,
